Project overview: A reconfiguration of the existing kitchen and living spaces has totally changed the functionality of this home. Located in one of the finest streets in the Inner West, this home was in desperate need of an update .
With plans to remove the original add on and replace it with a slightly larger contemporary addition , meant the impact on the street scape and neighboring properties , would remain similar to the original structure.
The designed requested vaulted ceilings and cantilevered awnings which called in for structural beams that connected to the original house. This also gave the illusion that the ceiling was floating with no supports and helped achieve a seamless connection with the outdoors .
The overall effect, a light filled contemporary statement that was small in scale but changed the way the clients live day to day life dramatically.
